Psychiatric Care for Seniors

 

Caring for your senior family member with mental or emotional problems can have high physical and emotional costs. The demands of day-to-day care and changing family roles can be hard to handle. When questions about the mental well-being of your loved one arise, the staff at the Center for Senior Mental Health at Chapman Medical Center can help provide answers.

 

The Center for Senior Mental Health offers comprehensive inpatient psychiatric treatment for people age 55 and older. Our mission is to provide care for the physical, social, and emotional well-being of our patients and their families. We do this in a warm, comfortable environment that fosters recovery and healing from mental illnesses and/or behavior changes. Your physicians are specialists in Geriatric Psychiatry.

 

The Center for Senior Mental Health at Chapman Medical Center offers patients and family members the following:

  • Safe environment (Secured Unit)
  • Weekly interdisciplinary meetings (including the doctor) with direct family involvement in the patient’s care plan
  • Direct access to medical specialists for additional medical needs
  • Medication dependency unit
  • Social Services
  • Discharge Planning
  • Specialists trained in geriatric psychological issues
